Background
In order to respond effectively to population health and health systems’ challenges, health policy must be based on the best scientific evidence derived from sound data and information, and relevant research. Harmonised collection of comparable data at European Union (EU) level helps to reduce variation and multiplication of data collection in Member States (MSs). Over the past decades the EU has supported many health information and data projects. However, the mere continuation of projects does not provide a long-term sustainable solution. The BRIDGE Health project answers the call towards a sustainable health monitoring and reporting system to ensure the continuity of activities that have been running in the past and to enhance synergy between EU projects on health information and data.
